2014-15 District 5490 Governor Chuck Fitzgerald has been a member of the Rotary Club of Peoria, Arizona since 2002, and served as its President in Rotary’s Centennial year in 2004-2005.  He has held nearly every club officer and director position.  Participation on District 5490’s leadership team has included his service as Interact Chair, Membership Chair, Assistant Governor, webmaster, and a member of the Bylaws and Finance committees.  Chuck is serious about attracting and engaging community leaders in Rotary.  He’s shown this by starting three new Rotary clubs – the Peoria North Rotary Club, the Glendale West Rotary Club, the Rotary e-Club of Arizona – and he has plans for another three!

In 2006, he received the District’s “Leadership for the 2nd Century Award” for his dedication to service, his work in developing leaders, and his potential for future leadership in Rotary.   Chuck has received the Rotary International Four Avenues of Service Citation, he is a graduate of Arizona’s Tri-District Leadership Academy, and has been involved in Arizona’s Tri-District PETS since 2007 serving as a session facilitator, and as the PETS Trainer.  Chuck loves The Rotary Foundation and shows it as a multiple Paul Harris Fellow.

Chuck works for the State of Arizona as the Director of the Office of Faith and Community, with the primary responsibility of connecting faith-based and community organizations with the safety-net systems of care throughout the state.  He enjoys a profession where “it is difficult to tell whether I’m working or simply serving the community as I do in Rotary.”

When he is not working, he is usually volunteering in the community with Rotary or one of the many nonprofit organizations he is connected to.  Chuck and his Rotarian wife Susan have lived in Peoria since 1992 and are both active members in their church and their community.  They have hosted Youth Exchange students, Group Study Exchange team members, and a young boy named Noe – a Gift-of-Life heart surgery recipient from Mexico.  They have three children, six grandchildren, and a rescue dog named Moses.
