Dear Rotarians:

Welcome to Rotary year 2016-17 and our third Fireside Chat.

As I travel the district visiting clubs and attending service projects or club events, I find I am in awe of what I observe and hear.

We now have the domain name Rotary5490.com thanks PDG Paul's assistance.  Our editors have included all of the events that were sent in for the newsletter and website.  You can read about them below in this newsletter on our district website.  Simply go to our website then select the tab then choose the calendar or Events or better yet just click here.

Our individual Rotarians and clubs are the reason our district exists and I am but a temporary ambassador with the lucky job of attending at least one club meeting of every club in the district. It has been the highlight of my short term as your DG.

My inquiry at each visit of… “Tell me what your club does in Rotary service to your community and the world?” elicits an amazing outpouring of projects, fundraisers and service to community and world that it almost is too hard to get it down in my notes. Sometimes I just stop writing and enjoy the flow of information.

As I continue to promote the district’s Imagine, Engage, Serve theme in context with RI President John Germ’s theme of Rotary Serving Humanity, I find most clubs are doing a stellar job of using the components of both to do service.

As many clubs do similar or the same service projects so I am promoting to clubs, especially those in close proximity with each other, to continue to broaden their cooperation and collaboration with each other on projects, programs and fundraisers.  Working together can be a winning effort for all clubs.

The editors have told me that the response to the call for stories fantastic -  you sent in 32 stories THANK YOU!  This is your newsletter and website so keep the stories coming.  Also I've been asked to ask you to include a picture of yourself when you send in your stories.  That will help the editors tremendously as then they will not have to track a picture to use besides you may not like the picture they use.  Your pictures can be fun pictures, they do not have to professional photographs.  Any picture that makes you happy and think of good times will do just fine!  Please send your story or event information to the editors and your story will magically appear in both!  We will also put your event / fundraiser on the District Calendar and in the District Events Pages.

Follow your dreams my friends and colleagues. Make this your best and our best Rotary year ever!

Buddy wants to take a walk so I’ll close this month’s Fireside with the thought below:
