District Peace Committee
JOB DESCRIPTION
*This is a new District Position
 
Purpose:
Peace & Conflict Resolution is one of Rotary’s 6 Areas of Focus.  In fact, Peace is the foundation for all areas of focus.  The District Peace Committee coordinates various Peace related activities and resources, ensuring that they are available to clubs and members. This committee shall consist of 5 members whose initial chairperson shall be appointed by the District Governor for a term of two years. Thereafter the committee shall select its own chairperson for a like term.
 
Committee Responsibilities:
  • Develop and coordinate Peace activities, such as
    • holding annual District Peace Forum
    • providing program ideas, including videos, to clubs
    • promoting annual essay contests in schools
  • Regularly contribute articles on Peace to the District newsletter
  • The chairperson shall serve as a committee member on the Peace Scholar Selection Committee when nominations from District for TRF Peace Scholars are being considered
 
Qualifications (recommended skills/experience):
  • Passion for Peace
  • Ability to organize teams
  • Openness to considering new ideas
 
Member Term and Replacement:
Staggered 3-year terms.
