Done In A Day
By Ronald Roderique

Recently nine Phoenix West Rotarian/ spouses, along with Rotarians from other clubs helped pack approximately 1000 Kitchen on the Street Bags of Hope.

These bags contain shelf stable foods like pasta, fruit snacks and granola bars to be handed out to children on the weekends when foods from schools are not available. This volunteer work was Phoenix West’s Done In A Day project for September.

Each month, Phoenix West does a similar project in lieu of a regular meeting. Some of the club’s past endeavors include: art supplies for United Cerebral Palsy, new children clothing for Child Crisis Centers, children books for Osborn School District and canned goods, peanut butter another staples for Desert Food Bank. For each event, a list of needs is distributed to members who then purchase needed items, roughly about $25/per member. With 33 members, this provides a fairly good volume of goods for the non-profit and a feeling of accomplishment for our members.

Done in a Day was the brainchild of member Staci Glass, who previously worked with non-profits and has become an ongoing project of Phoenix West.
