Kids Against Hunger

I would like to challenge each and every one of you to get involved in the 'Kids Against Hunger' program, while helping the District 5490 RYLA program at the same time.

As you know, every year over the past 3 years, RYLA has been actively involved in this program. RYLA is almost here and the tax year is coming to a close. My promise to Mark Carpenter, the RYLA 5490 Chairman, was to raise the funds necessary to continue with this program.

Last year, our RYLArians packed approximately 35,000 meals at a cost of $0.25 per meal.

This year, we are attempting to raise $10,000 in Arizona tax credits to fund approximately 40,000 meals. This year, 100% of these meals will stay in Arizona for our hungry families.

GREAT NEWS! Arizona State increased the annual tax donation giving to $800 (married filers or $400 single filers). Many of us have special organizations that we've been giving $400 to. My challenge to you: I have given $800 to this program. I am challenging you to do the same in support of this program which will be used to purchase these meals and package them. It is a great opportunity for our young RYLArians to experience a life-changing event. The great advantage for you and I is we get our donation back through our Arizona taxes, plus a federal deduction. Most importantly - the hungry get fed. We have to pay half of these meals by December 1st.

Please consider this request by sitting down today and making your check payable to:

RYLA 5490 - Kids Against Hunger
P.O. Box 371
Cottonwood,  Arizona 86326

You will need to MAKE NOTE that this tax donation is to be used towards the RYLA service project.

Once we get your check, you will receive a receipt and letter back.

Important: You might not be able to give. Please talk with your club, friends, family and others in giving today.

Thank you,
Dennis Van
