Adopt A Family
By Ron Roderique - RC of Phoenix West

The Phoenix West Rotary Club has once again completed its long-standing annual Adopt-A-Family Christmas project in conjunction with the Osborn School District located in Central Phoenix.

Each year the club adopts about 12 to 15 families with about 45 to 50 children in order to provide new clothing, food and toys. In early December, members are provided names, ages, sizes and wishes of needy children.  They then shop, purchase and gift wrap these items.

On a normal meeting day, we assemble to prepare food boxes and gifts that are then delivered by our members.  There is sufficient food, including a Christmas ham, to feed a large family for about two weeks.

When we see the living conditions of many of these families, we quickly recognize their plight. This year we found two families without actual homes that were being housed in an Extended Stay facility.  Phoenix West Rotarians are very generous and exhibit the true Christmas spirit that brightens Christmas for these needy families!
