Happy New Year, Everyone!

On January 1 we turn our calendars over to begin a new year, an annual ritual that often brings thoughts of re-commitment, fresh starts and new possibilities. In recent days, many Rotarians have contacted me about ways to expand their Rotary experience. They are exploring options for involvement in District activities and beyond. What about you? If you have been thinking along those same lines, now is the time for you to act. Working on a team to collaborate on a large project, produce an event, support our youth, or serve our members is a satisfying and often life-changing experience. What’s more, the friendships and relationships you develop can last a lifetime.
Just a few examples of the many career skills you might share in service are accounting, bookkeeping, audio-visual technology, civil law, media/public relations, hospitality, strategic planning, event management, registrations, business development, entertainment, membership on boards of directors … and the list goes on. There is a place for your talents, if you want to share them—and I hope you do!

During the next couple of months, many announcements will be made about interesting ways we Rotarians can get involved, ‘spread our wings’ and share our skills and enthusiasm. Our District Teams and Committees are currently looking ahead to increasing their support capacity and mentoring new members. In addition, a limited number of positions will be opening for seats on the District Finance, Nominating and By-laws Committees, with terms of office beginning July 1.

Please do read the Weekly e-Blasts. These short emails include Special Weekly Notices and list Upcoming Events. You’ll be able to keep track of opportunities, position openings and one-time projects that are coming up in the next few weeks and months.

Fellow Rotarians, I am personally grateful for the opportunity to know each one of you and your clubs, especially during the past six months. What a privilege it’s been to be a part of the exciting energy of the clubs in our newly combined District! Your creativity, dedication, generosity and commitment to making a difference in our communities are simply inspirational.

I wish you a rewarding New Year filled with peace, joy and meaning. May 2018 be your best year yet!
