District Conference Book Drive

Congratulations and a BIG THANK YOU to all who brought books to the conference or donated toward our goal of 1000 books.  Several members of Phoenix 100 'stepped to the plate’ with a very generous donations.  Rotarians from around the District spread the word about the District Book Drive.  Then the books started coming in is various forms and quantities.  Many books were  came in the form of cash donations while others were bundled in groups of 6 and more.  We held a successful book drive event at Barnes & Nobel late in April.

There is Good News and there is Good News.

The First Good News is that even though we jumped the gun a little in our count, we collected a little over 750 books  [several had to be culled as they were soiled or not in good shape.  Many were shop worn.  Some folks probably did not get the word that they need to be new [or in new shape for all appearances]

The second Good News is that there is still opportunity help us.  Schools start in about 6 weeks so I will be in contact with them about the distribution which will happen as soon as there are enough books to go around.  We will have a more accurate count once the children register.

More information will follow as it comes in.
