2016-07-01 District Governor Danny's Fireside Chat

 

Dear Rotarians:

Welcome to Rotary year 2016-17 and our first Fireside Chat.

As we move forward into our new Rotary year, I will need all of the help and support I can get from Rotarians and their families — to make 5490’s next year as a district — our best year ever.

It will not be an easy task, as we have been blessed over the years to have had great leaders at all levels in our clubs and district. Leadership that has created untold numbers of Rotary projects and innovations, serving humanity locally and around the world.

The successes of 5490 over the past 26 years has been a storied journey for thousands of Rotarians and their families, working together, and doing good in the world.
 
You know, I still get asked, “What is the District?” Quite simply, the district is all about our individual Rotary members and extraordinary leaders in the 52 clubs (former and present) which have made up our district. That is also our heritage!
 
In this coming year, I believe it is the heritage and history of our district, which will help us do our work and succeed as never before.
 
I need us to Dream Big and Imagine what we can do together, then Engage all of our people and resources and Serve humanity as we never have before.
 
            Remember:
A DREAM written down with a date becomes a GOAL.
A GOAL broken into steps becomes a PLAN.
A PLAN backed by ACTION,
 
make our DREAMS come true.
 
Our successes in service this year will allow us to excel as Rotarians and prepare us to move into the future — that future being our new district — 5495.
 
Thank you for all you have done and will do for Rotary and the world!
