Dear Rotarians:

Welcome to Rotary year 2016-17 and our fourth Fireside Chat, where does the time go?  It seems only yesterday that I was inducted as your District Governor in the mist of a "Star Wars Theme".

October is upon us and there is still lots going on in our Rotary world and our district.

May I be the first to wish you a Happy Halloween! A great favorite time for many Rotarian families with children or grandchildren to share in the fun.

As I travel the district visiting clubs and attending service projects or club events, I continue to find myself in awe of what I observe and hear.

I have a full slate of 11 club visits to do and will finish on the 21st with my own Kingman Route 66 Club. (I’ve missed so many of my home club meetings, I hope they recognize me and let me in the door.)

We have two outstanding training assemblies for club members this month on the 8th and 22nd. I encourage you to attend them as they will be filled with great topics, helpful information and training.

From the 9th to the 15th, RI is promoting a “Reconnect Week” for clubs to invite Rotary Alumni to your meetings. You can find lots of great ideas on My Rotary to help with your “Reconnect Week” event

On the 24th, RI is holding its fourth World Polio Day celebration. You can download a World Polio Day toolkit from My Rotary to help you take part in the celebration. Let’s get the word out to our communities on the work we are doing and how very close we are to eradicating this horrible disease.

From the 27th to the 31st a large contingent of us from Arizona will be in Veracruz, Mexico at the USA/MEXICO Friendship Conference. Always a great assembly of Rotarians on both sides of the border and an opportunity to work together on projects and grants to do good in their country and ours.

Then there are a half of dozen or so of additional meetings throughout the month to keep your traveling DG busy.

(All this coming and going is making Buddy, dog tired.)

            Remember:

“You are never too old to set another Goal

or

to dream a new Dream…”
