Peace Fellow for 2017 Announced
By PDG Jim Green - RC of Sun City

On October 20, the Trustees of the Rotary International Foundation announced that Osee Romero Njacheun will be a Peace Fellow in 2017 with studies at Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand.

Osee is sponsored by Sun City (PDG Jim Green), Rotary 100 (PDG Craig Wilson) and Peoria North (PDG George Wheeler) Rotary Clubs.

Rotarian Green, Osee’s application sponsor, stated that to his knowledge Osee is the first Peace Fellow from this district sponsored by more than one club.

Competition from around the world for the two highly coveted Peace Fellow programs is so intense that a very small percentage of applicants is accepted as Peace Fellows each year.

“I received notification of my acceptance on my birthday.  I was so excited that when I called Jim to let him know the news, he asked me to speak English – I had no idea what language I was speaking!”  Osee continued to say that the Peace Fellow experience will be one of his most important stepping-stones in his quest for world peace through conflict resolution.

Osee’s educational background includes two BA degrees in Business Administration and Management from Ottawa University in Phoenix, a MA in International Relations from University of Gottingen, Germany and a MA in International Relations, Conflict Resolution and Peacekeeping from the American Military University in Virginia.  He also is certified by St. Francis Xavier University in Canada and the Institute of Cultural Diplomacy Global Risks in National Security.

Osee has held several faculty positions at Arizona State University.  He currently is Founding CEO of Halsten Enterprise (www.halstenenterprise.org) , a company he formed to sustain development in third-world countries around the world.  He has been employed in Africa and Europe with governmental agencies working toward sustaining peace through conflict resolution

Volunteer activities have taken Osee around the world from Africa to Europe and the Americas.  He is on Civil Rights and Social Action Outreach Committee for the City of Tempe as well as the Sister City Program.  For Phoenix, Osee is on the Civil Rights and Social Action Committee.  He is an ASU representative to the United Nations Association.
