Did you know there is a place that 501 (c) (3) organizations can register and become eligible to download major software programs for just a few dollars?  WWW.TechSoup.org  is the place that organizes software donations from 60+ companies (including Microsoft, Intuit, Adobe, and Cisco).

Phoenix 100, under the leadership of Jim Soudriette, runs a program where donated old notebooks, PCs and laptops are wiped of all previous files, a new copy of Windows 7 is installed and activated, and Open Source Apache Office is installed as well as the free version of AVG antivirus.  These are then given to not for profit organizations throughout Arizona and international Rotary projects where they will be put to good use.  Win7 operating system (as a new install) costs the club only $7 per license.

One aspect of TechSoup that some might not be familiar with is that Rotary, through its 501(c)(3) can use the downloaded software for computers that are used exclusively for Rotary.  Windows can be upgraded to Win7 or Win 8.1 or even accounting software can be downloaded and installed from Intuit.
