CONNECT THROUGH GIVING
District 5495 Rotary Foundation Fundraising Campaign for 2019-20
Goal: Raise more funds and giving participation with The Rotary Foundation
• Raise $2M to support Rotary’s good work around the world through new major gifts (see
definition below) of $10,000 or more between January 1, 2019 and May 31, 2020.
• Increase the number of members enrolled and giving automatically through Rotary Direct.

How it works:
Major Gift is a contribution to The Rotary Foundation
• A Major Gift is a minimum contribution of $10,000 outright cash (can be over three years) or a minimum pledged contribution of $10,000 to the Bequest Society.
• The District goal for Major Gift funds is $2,000,000.
• Campaign began January 1, 2019 and ends on May 31, 2020.
• Celebrating Event: Major Gift Contributors will celebrate with a Major Gifts Black Tie Dinner to be held on Thursday, June 25, 2020 at the beautiful Sanctuary Camelback Mountain in Paradise Valley, AZ. www.sanctuarycamelback.com Dinner and beverages provided for Rotarian and spouse / guest.

Rotary Direct is The Rotary Foundation recurring giving program
• Campaign and contest ends May 31, 2020.
• SIX clubs will receive District Grant awards of $2000:
   - top two clubs with highest percentage of members enrolled in Rotary Direct,
   - top two clubs based on total number of members enrolled in Rotary Direct,
   - PLUS, one lottery draw pick for each of the above categories for a club that finishes in the upper half of competition (i.e. two awards)
   - Only one award per club from those outlined above

This District Grant award can stand alone or be in addition to regular District Grant Funds. It does not require matching club cash or qualification of minimum giving.
• Clubs are encouraged to incentivize member enrollment into Rotary Direct by awarding foundation points from accumulated club points from the Rotary Foundation.
• The six clubs that win the awards will be announced at the 2020 District Conference.

Need some help with motivating or explaining the advantage of recurring
giving to your club? Contact your District’s Rotary Foundation Committee!!

Reasons for using TRF’s recurring giving program:
1. Giver knows they are contributing to The Rotary Foundation, a charitable organization. It makes the donor feel connected with the spirit of philanthropy. (Deductions through dues are not always understood.)
2. Club convenience! Club leadership work is minimized.
3. Signing up once ensures continuous support.
4. Signing up is simple with a mail-in form or even better with the online application through the RI website: https://www.rotary.org/en/donate
Recurring payments can be through a bank account, debit card or credit card.
5. It’s easier to give smaller amounts in more frequency, rather than larger amounts given infrequently. The minimum recurring increment is $10 per month or $25 per quarter.
6. It’s efficient! It reduces TRF administration and marketing costs, because contributions go directly to The Rotary Foundation Annual Fund
and/or Polio.
7. Its secure! It’s the safest and most secure way to contribute.
8. Making changes is easy! It’s easy to change the amount and the source
of funding right on the RI website.
9. Increasing the amount occasionally is less of a burden to the giver and is quicker to get to the next recognition level.
10.Tracking the history giving is easy! The contributions are easily viewed (by the giver) and updated on the Rotary website.
