I am willing to bet that someone that you know wants ...to make a significant impact on the world by promoting tolerance and cooperation. You can help.

Each year, Rotary selects up to 100 individuals from around the world to receive fully funded academic fellowships at one of our peace centers. These fellowships cover tuition and fees, room and board, round-trip transportation, and all internship and field-study expenses. Two types of peace fellowships are available, including 50 master’s degree fellowships and 50 professional development certificate fellowships.  Rotary selects some of the world’s most dedicated and brightest professionals to receive fully funded fellowships to study at our Rotary Peace Centers. In just over a decade, the Rotary Peace Centers have trained more than 900 fellows for careers in peace building. Our district has endorsed several candidates in the past 10 years.
Currently Chris Zambakari, nominated by the Rotary Club of Sun City West and accepted
by TRF in 2013, is studying at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia.

Many fellows  go on to serve as leaders in national governments, NGOs, the military, law enforcement, and international organizations like the United Nations and World Bank.  Applications for the 2016-17 Rotary Peace Fellowships program are now being accepted. The deadline for candidates to submit applications to their district is 31 May. Districts must submit endorsed applications to The Rotary Foundation by 1 July. There is no cost to your club or to our district. . The application process is not difficult but it does take time.  If you know someone interested have them check out the program by Googling Rotary Peace Fellows and if they that they may qualify you can help them get started. PDG Craig Wilson cw10@cox.net is serving as chairperson of the district selection committee and he is happy to help as well.

The committee recently met and agreed to enthusiastically endorse the application of Osee Romeo Njacheun for the Professional Development Certificate program in Thailand. Osee is a master’s degree candidate at the American Military University in International Relations: Peace and Conflict Resolution. This will be his second master’s degree. He is sponsored by Phoenix 100 and has already involved with the Interact program at Washington High School.  Fortunately, a district may promote as many Peace Fellows as it finds qualified.
