Keeping with its annual tradition, the Rotary Club of Goodyear PebbleCreek created bountiful boxes of food and books to enrich the holidays for families in the Southwest Valley.

More than two dozen Rotarians joined school administrators, school board members, and Interactors from Desert Edge High School to personally deliver the gifts to 80 families in need. Each gift box included all the fixings for a delicious holiday feast, an age-appropriate book for every child in the home, and an activity or story book for the family to enjoy together.

Several committed volunteers worked hard to ensure the success of the club's signature project. Assistant District Governor Charlie Miller worked with Target on Cotton Lane in Goodyear to secure quality food at a discounted rate. Volunteers from the Avondale and Litchfield Elementary School District Foundations joined Interactors from Canyon View High School and Desert Edge High School to shop locally for the books. Community Services Committee Chairperson Henry Racvzkiewicz coordinated nearly 50 volunteers to deliver the holiday food and book boxes.

This project was funded collaboratively by the Goodyear PebbleCreek Rotary Foundation, a district matching grant, and a generous donation from Albertson's.

Club President Shelly Hornback said, "As Rotarians, we are passionate about serving our community. This project is particularly fun because we have so many outstanding partners that make it a robust and special experience for hundreds of children in our local schools who need extra support during the holidays."
