Each year the Interact District Council sponsors and leads two conferences designed to motivate and strengthen the more than 90 Interact clubs in District 5495. This year, the 27-member IDC has completely restructured their Fall Leadership Conference, which is being hosted by the Herberger Young Scholars Academy on the ASU West Campus in Glendale on Saturday, October 27.

Several years ago the Council began sponsoring Cluster Club Training Days on Saturdays in the Fall, when the Interact clubs assigned to an Interact Assistant Governor would come together with their AG to learn more about Interact and Rotary, to share best practices, and to consider partnering in projects. Clubs that have participated in CCTDs have found them to be immensely helpful.

However, with the rapid growth of Interact Clubs in the district, there simply are not enough Saturdays in the Fall to accommodate separate CCTDs for 23 AGs and their clubs.

Consequently, this year, at their annual Interact District Council Retreat, the student leadership of the district decided to do a complete make-over of their annual Fall Leadership Conference. Instead of having the usual breakout sessions on different topics, they decided to transform this year’s FLC into a giant CCTD. In addition to featuring their recently-returned Interact Ambassadors to Kenya team, along with Keynote Speaker Michael Cramer, from Escape Velocity, each Interact AG will be meeting with his/her own clubs’ officers and adult advisors during the three breakout sessions during the day.

This year’s FLC, which will begin with check-in at 8:30 a.m., will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Registration is online via the Interact District’s own website, www.rotaryazinteract.org. Rotarians are welcome to stop by and see what these incredible young leaders are doing that day. The school is located at 4701 W. Thunderbird Road, Glendale, AZ 85306.
