A Message from Ken Kelley, Interact Chair

What I like about Rotary is the service never stops. Every day somewhere around the globe you can be sure there are Rotarians out there doing good. It doesn’t matter if it is a new club or old club. The opportunities are endless. If you can’t think of one of your own, you can always help another club with theirs.

The Pebble Creek Rotary club is one of the newest clubs in the district. They have partnered with the Interact District Council. Members of Pebble Creek have used their connections with the Southwest Lending Closet to take the lending closets excess mobility devices. They bring them weekly to American Furniture Warehouse. They are our corporate partner. They store and help move our collections around the state. Please, if you are in the market for furniture check them out.

You’ll be proud to know our district has one of the premier Interact programs in Rotary. Through the leadership of Youth Services Chairperson Art Harrington and Assistant Chairperson John Wintersteen, the Interact district has grown to 93 clubs. Pebble Creek Rotary isn’t sponsoring an Interact club yet, but since I serve as the Interact District Council chairperson, my club is supporting my efforts to make a difference in the world. Another great thing about Rotary is you can serve at a club level, district level or more if you want. The opportunities are endless, just like the need. You can go to the District’s Interact page at www.rotaryazinteract.org to learn more about this project, which has many moving parts. There are many opportunities to help.
Pebble Creek Rotary has chosen to help with money and human capital. The club has donated $500 to help the district council with the fundraising shortfall. The council needed to raise $21,000 to fund this project. They are almost there. I ask any clubs out there that have some discretionary funds to please help.

There are three ways to donate to the Interact Crutches 4 Africa project:
  • The quickest way is to use a credit or debit card through this URL: YouCaring.com/crutches4africa.
  • Contributions can be made direct to the D5495 Interact Service Project Fund bank account. Have the donor make the check out to D5495 Interact Service Project Fund and mail it to our Interact District Treasurer John Wintersteen, 4702 E. Lincoln Dr, Paradise Valley, AZ 85253.
  • If tax deductibility of the contribution is desired, checks can be made payable to the Prescott Rotary Club Foundation, with the memo “for Interact C4A Project”, and mail to the Prescott Rotary Club Foundation, 100 E. Sheldon, Suite 105, Prescott, AZ 86301.
