Larry Horton
District Governor 2022-2023

Larry Horton's journey in Rotary began in 2011 when he was part of the Group Study Exchange to District 9640 on the Gold Coast of Australia. Upon his return, he joined the Rotary Club of Tempe Rio Salado and shortly after co-founded the first satellite Rotary Club in Arizona, Camelback Crossroads (CXR). Larry served as club president, treasurer, secretary and membership chairman. Larry’s first District experience was serving with Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA). He has been heavily involved in planning and mentoring teen peer counselors over the past 8 years at RYLA Ponderosa. Larry became a Paul Harris Fellow in 2013 and has held the Youth Protection Officer and Assistant Governor positions at the District level.

Larry honorably retired from the Phoenix Police department in 2016 and is now a self-storage asset class investor. He graduated from the Landmark Forum in 2015 and it continues to be an influential guide in his life. He is married to Jennifer, also a Rotarian, and has two children: son Angel and daughter Emery. He also has one dog that he claims and one that is his wife’s. Larry is a die-hard fan of the 2001 World Series Champion Arizona Diamondbacks and has been a season ticket holder since 2012. He also spends his time rooting for the New Orleans Saints, riding his Indian motorcycle and volunteering in his community with Rotary and church. Larry is a member of Central Christian Church where he is active in the men’s mentorship ministry.

Larry consistently witnesses the power of Rotary in its members and is passionate about increasing Rotary’s relevancy in an ever evolving culture. The support he has already received from Rotarians old and new only strengthens his servant leadership mindset. Larry would like to thank you in advance for making his portion in the continuity of leadership valuable and purposeful.
