to promote literacy in their communities
(Goodyear/Surprise/Verde Valley-Cottonwood) A number of Rotary clubs throughout the state sponsor an incredible program with the Dolly Parton Imagination Library that sends a free book every month for five years to children living in their community!
 
 
AZ Rotarians team up with Lake Havasu brewery
to create beer to support efforts to eradicate polio
(Lake Havasu City) Rotary District 5495 in Arizona has partnered with MudShark Brewery to create Iron Lung Lager to raise money to support Rotary's effort to eradicate polio. 
 
 
 
 
ADOT introduces specialized license plate
to celebrate work of Rotarians
(Phoenix) The Arizona Department of Transportation has approved a specialized license plate to honor the work of Rotary in Arizona.
 
 
 
Liz Magallanes named D5495
Rotaractor of the Year
(Goodyear) Liz Magallanes, a member of the West Valley Rotaract Club, was named the Arizona Rotary District 5495 Rotaractor of the Year at the district’s annual Conference of Clubs. District Governor Michelle Holcomb and Rotarian Ed Koeneman presented the award to Miss Magallanes at the conference held May 1-3 at the We-ko-pa Resort and Casino in Fountain Hills.

recognizes PUSD students
(Peoria, AZ) The Peoria North Rotary Club continued its 25-year history of supporting local schools and literacy projects by recently presenting Student of the Month Awards to students at four Peoria Unified School District high schools.
 
 
 
Rotary Club of Sun Lakes
hosts high school speech contest
(Chandler/Sun Lakes, AZ) The Rotary Club of Sun Lakes (RCSL) held its 11th Annual Rotary International Four-Way Test Speech Contest. Five senior students from five different Chandler Unified School District High Schools competed. The purpose of the speech is to apply the principles of RI’s Four Way Test to a current ethical issue. Each student addressed the Four-Way Test during her 4–7-minute speech. 
 
 
Sedona Village Rotary Club
supports VA Hospital in Prescott
(Sedona Village/Prescott, AZ) The Rotary Club of Sedona Village recently donated $15,000 to the VA Hospital in Prescott. The donation -- raised from club raffles and member contributions -- was presented during a club-sponsored picnic held on the grounds of the VA Hospital. The funds will be used to fund essentials at the center not covered by the Veterans Administration.

Educator of the Year Award
(Chandler/Sun Lakes) The Rotary Club of Sun Lakes presented its "Educator of the Year Award" and college scholarships to teachers and students in the Chandler Unified School District.

with nonprofit to assist homeless women
(Surprise/Sun City West/Glendale) Several West Valley Rotary Clubs have partnered with Women 4 Women to put together feminine hygiene kits to be distributed to homeless women throughout the Valley.

provide renovations to MCC Rose Garden
(Mesa/Tempe) Members of the Rotary Club of Tempe South and Mesa West combined to provide renovations to The Rose Garden at Mesa Community College.
